Small Businesses Can Cut Their IT Costs and Carbon Footprint with SaaS, Says Gooroo Live (UK) limited
SMB-focused SaaS solutions help organisations improve business performance and cut infrastructure and energy costs
Gooroo Live (UK) limited, the SME software as a service (SaaS) vendor, says that companies deploying its online business management solution will save energy and carbon usage, as well as boosting their business efficiency while avoiding capital expenditure on computing.
Price starting at £10 for up to 5 users, per month, Gooroo's cloud-based business intelligence software dashboard does not need additional hardware, upgrades or storage to be deployed by companies, as it is accessed and used via web browser with no applications to install or maintain.
Gooroo says that by running their business software in the cloud, with users accessing it on demand, SMEs save on the need to buy and run additional servers or PCs. If a firm runs just one less PC, it would typically save 145 kWh of electricity per year, equivalent to 105kg CO2** - as well as the costs of buying and running the computer.
Dean Miles, general manager of Gooroo Live (UK) limited said: "Our business suite not only saves capital costs for companies that are starting up or growing, it's also a green solution that helps users to minimise their carbon footprint.
"According to The Carbon Trust, SMEs account for nearly half of the UK's annual business CO2 emissions. Using hosted SaaS applications can make a real impact on this, as there is no unnecessary usage of power, or additional software to buy and run. As more and more companies look to cut IT costs, Gooroo's software offers an ideal way to do this without compromising efficiency, and while helping them to save energy too."
Gooroo's software runs in energy-efficient data centres to minimise power consumption and emissions.
In Gooroo's March 2009 survey of directors and senior managers in small businesses across the UK, 40% of respondents said they had already changed their plans to buy or update business software because of the economic climate, and 21% planned to postpone spending on software until the situation improves. 65% of respondents said the key benefit they expected to gain from cloud applications was an overall reduction in IT costs.
